Maternity and Childbirth

Having a baby is one of life's most cherished events. At Union Hospital, our priority is to help make your stay with us the first of many happy memories with your baby. We are here to help you create the best start in life for your new little one. Our nurses will provide you the expert care, advice, and support that you and your baby need during the delivery process and thereafter.  From spacious, private rooms and birthing suites to the latest training and technology, the comfort and safety of you and your baby are at the heart of everything we do.

At Union Health, we know that mother-baby bonding during the first 48 hours of your baby’s life impacts his or her well-being long after you’ve left the hospital. That's why we work to ensure an optimal environment that supports bonding between mother and infant. Integration of such practices as a golden hour immediately after birth to help stabilize the infant’s heart and respiratory rates, frequent skin-to-skin contact to nurture emotional attachment of the baby to mother, and lactation (breastfeeding) support from a board-certified lactation consultant help support bonding, familiarize mom with her new baby, build confidence in identifying newborn feeding cues and lessen post-discharge anxiety about caring for your new baby.
