Advancing Care through Curriculum Development

Union Hospital, Inc. and the Union Hospital Family Medicine Residency were awarded a Primary Care Training and Enhancement Award from the Bureau of Health Workforce in Health Resources and Services Administration.

This project aims to increase the number of primary care physicians who demonstrate competence in caring for geriatric patients. The UFMR will develop a coordinated and comprehensive training program to address the special considerations of a geriatric patient.

The American population is aging; therefore it is important to train family medicine residents in the specialized needs of this population of patients, because these will be the patients that they will see in their practices.
