Family Medicine Residency
Union Hospital's Family Medicine Residency Program
Union Hospital is very proud of its residency program and the unique training opportunities offered. Throughout the last thirty years, the program has graduated a consistent mix of allopathic and osteopathic physicians. Faculty members have blended their diverse and extensive experiences with the latest methodologies to design this outstanding three-year program.
Both the residency and physician practice are based on a multidisciplinary team approach that includes mid-level providers, nurses, technicians, and behavioral science interns. All 21 residents interact with one another throughout their three years of residency, providing a great support system for each other both during and after residency training.

Family Medicine Residency Program & Rural Training Track
The Union Hospital Family Medicine Residency Rural Training Track was one of the first accredited in the Midwest in 1993. This unopposed program consists of a hands-on curriculum for future rural health providers based on a unique hub-and-spoke structure that allows residents to work out of the main site during their full three years of training, while still gaining first-hand rural experience at a federally designated rural health clinic and a federally qualified health center.

The Richard G. Lugar Center for Rural Health
The Mission of Union Hospital's Richard G. Lugar Center for Rural Health is to advance rural health through education, innovation, and collaboration. The Lugar Center works closely with its partners to recruit medical students and Family Medicine residents who have interests in rural practice, to train them in the details of rural medicine, and to assist them in establishing practices with resources to sustain rural healthcare delivery.
