Union Hospital's PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program

The Union Hospital Post-graduate Year One Pharmacy Residency is a one-year, hospital-based pharmacy practice residency program offering two positions for pharmacy postgraduates. Our program is committed to providing residents with the experiences and knowledge needed to become skilled practitioners. Upon completion of the program, the residents will be prepared to educate patients, students, and other healthcare professionals, as well as develop professionally in various areas of pharmaceutical care. The resident will also demonstrate leadership and communication skills that will be essential to his or her success in future endeavors.

Candidate Status for ASHP Accreditation

The Union Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program is currently in candidate status through the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).  Graduates of our program will be prepared to:

  • pharmacy-residencyManage and improve the medication-use process;
  • Provide evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy management with interdisciplinary teams;
  • Exercise leadership and practice management skills;
  • Demonstrate project management skills;
  • Provide medication and practice-related education/training; and
  • Utilize medical informatics.
