UNION HOSPITAL RADIATION ONCOLOGY

Hux Cancer Center Facts
- Hux Cancer Center is conveniently attached via a pedway to Union Hospital. It is the first comprehensive cancer treatment facility in the Wabash Valley.
- Union Hospital has been continuously accredited by the American College of Surgeons since 1967. This means that our program has met stringent national standards for cancer diagnosis and treatment. The Union Hospital Cancer Program includes the longest continuously active tumor registry in the Wabash Valley; our tumor registry is linked to the Indiana State Board of Health Tumor Registry.
- Hux Cancer Center at Union Hospital is one of approximately 150 practices accredited in radiation therapy by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This accreditation distinguishes our program by recognizing that our quality of care meets or exceeds the prevailing national standards for cancer treatment.
- The main components of the Cancer Center are the Inpatient Oncology Unit on the third floor of Union Hospital, the Radiation Oncology facility at Union Hospital and UAP Clinic Medical Oncology on the second floor of the Hux Cancer Center facility. We work closely with the Coleman Cancer Center physicians and staff at the Providence Medical Group. The Cancer Center brings together oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, nurses, social workers, physical therapists, physicists, pharmacists, psychologists, dieticians, chaplains, alternative medicine specialists and others to form a team to provide complete care for cancer patients in the Wabash Valley.
- The Coleman Cancer Center and the radiation oncologists participate in clinical trials sponsored by the Hoosier Oncology Group, UCLA and several nationally recognized pharmaceutical investigational bodies.
- Services that are not available in Terre Haute are usually able to be provided in Indianapolis at St. Francis Hospital or the Clarian Health System facilities.
